For a writer, one of the worst situations that may be happen while doing the things is writer’s block. It’s often ruining our mind with kind of questions like what’s wrong with my brain that I can’t come up with something good? Is this good enough for this chapter? Why I can’t even think a thing? Writer’s block haunts, but there are many ways to gain the victory over it.
Writer’s block itself has two kinds. The first one is creative writer’s block that happens when you can’t even get the ideas for what you should write about. And the other one is mechanical writer’s block that ruining your process of writing itself. So, there are some things that you should do for beat the writer’s block
01. Quit looking inwardly and try looking outward
To overcome the creative writer’s block, first thing that you should do when we out of ideas is simply to pay attention to the things happening all around you. Sometimes, the reasons why we can’t get any ideas is because you never try to look for it. You’re just waiting and waiting for the ideas to come up but actually you have to go out in search them.
02. Think local
The ideas also can be find at news. Not the annoying, dramatically, or provocative news that usually appears on television, but the local newspaper that can give us so much ideas too. You can find something like you never experienced about it before but you think it was a great story to write. So, once you think about that, you’ll have something worth telling others.
03. Read books that don’t seem appealing
Almost every accomplished writer gives the advice to read, read, read, and always be reading—but there’s a reason why. Because reading is a very simple way to explore our mind for getting much ideas. And read some books that don’t seem appealing or you actually can’t enjoy with is also a good way to looking for great ideas.
And after we’ve done with the idea, we can run into mechanical writer’s block. You’ve got a story to tell, but you either can’t get motivated to start or you find yourself getting stuck in the middle of writing and unable to continue moving forward. Here’s the thing.
01. Eliminate distractions
Sometimes, the most important thing that can block our writing process is a distraction. It can be come from internet, our phone, video games, or our place itself. So, try to eliminate them by put your phone away form your place, write in a good wheater room, try to not playing a game while you taking a break, and others. Those all are really can help you motivated.
02. Develop a routine
When we feel like we don’t have much energy to do the things, try to sleep at the right time, waking up early, take a fresh shower for waking you up, and get some healthy breakfast. I know it may sounds too over but doing those things as a routine can help us for being a positive person.
03. Put a time break in the story
And when you had a problem continuing your story, you don’t know more what to write, just skip what you’re stuck on and head to next thing that you can visualize. It may be hard to do, or can give a plot hole in your story, but remember that first drafts are not always perfect. You can write anything once come up on your mind without thinking about is this right? Is this really the way I want to tell? Just don’t think about them and start writing.
So, that’s all about the ultimate cure for writer’s block from me. Hope you’ll get the points and happy writing!
