Self-discipline is a cycle of habits that are carried out repeatedly and continuously in a continuous manner so that it becomes a thing that we usually do self-discipline in doing an action that is carried out consistently and continuously will become a habit that leads to the achievement of the advantages of making we have strengths that we can use to achieve life goals that determine our future. Ways to discipline yourself:
- Find your weakness
Most people will find it easier to write down their weaknesses than to write down what strengths they have in each person, although each person has different strengths and weaknesses, but almost all of them feel difficult when they are asked about the strengths of this situation. Because all this time you have been too focused on thinking about the shortcomings that exist without regard to the strengths that you can use to turn all these shortcomings into profitable new achievements.
Actually knowing the deficiencies in us is not a bad thing, it will even be a positive point if we use the information as motivation to build strength.
2. Create easy habits
Habits start with easy things. For example, getting up in the morning, reading a book, praying, and washing your hands after and before eating. From these small things we can do an activity that is difficult to do becomes an easy habit for us to do.
3. Use rewards
Rewards can increase one’s confidence and foster external motivation to further develop themselves. Rewards can also be in the form of prizes or penalties. Prizes are given as a form of appreciation for something good, while punishment is a response to something that is not good. So appreciation is a way used to reward to someone because they have done something right so that people who receive awards are more eager to do the right thing.
In practice, awards can be given in two forms, namely verbal and nonverbal. The notion of verb which refers to a spontaneous act of praise to yourself. While non-verbal in the form of goods and so forth. In building discipline you must apply this, because rewards can further enhance your enthusiasm for more discipline.
4. Personal standards
Your personal standards are reflected in how you treat yourself and in how you treat others. What’s more, they are also reflected in how you expect to be treated by other people. When you have high standards, you expect to be treated with the highest regard. However, when your standards are low, you will often accept things how they are. Furthermore, you may even allow others to walk all over you, which is a clear indication that you’re struggling with low self-esteem. When you have low standards, you will often fall prey to other people’s influence. This happens because you fail to stand up for yourself — you fail to stand up for your principles and beliefs.
5. Look Ahead
As someone ages, usually worries about the future will increase. The future is uncertain, but have faith that you are in control of your life. Rest assured that you have a bright future and now is the best time to start planning your future.
6. Set Alarms
We only have a lot of time in this world, so it is appropriate that we use the maximum and the best time possible, instead of wasting time. Americans say that ‘time is money’ which is very important and valuable in life even for only one second. With respect for time, we will create discipline in our lives.
Discipline in using time means we can use time for things that are useful, dividing time well, which must take precedence and which should be abandoned. For example by regulating the study time and slipping time to rest in it on a daily basis with a stable.
7. Make Adjustment
The environment plays an important role in adjusting itself. This is because the environment is a place where someone can bring out his character. In this context, we must adjust to the conditions of a disciplined environment.
Therefore we as humans who have a forward orientation, should prioritize actions that refer to discipline rather than doing something that is only in accordance with our wishes and make us neglect our obligations because we are undisciplined. Let us realize how important it is to be disciplined, because when we are disciplined and manage everything in accordance with the order and portions we can be sure we will soon achieve success and we will also be more developed than before.
